What's a relative clause?

It's a clause that modifies a noun or noun phrase and is introduced by a relative pronoun.


What's a defining relative clause?

It's what gives essential information about the noun or noun phrase it modifies, without which the sentence wouldn'nt make sense as the listner or reader would not be able to identify the noun in the sentence. 


What's a Non-Defining Relative Clause?

It's what gives extra information about a noun or noun phrase and has commas at both ends.
